Water
High standards of fresh water quality must be achieved and maintained not only to cater for the safe supply of drinking water but also to minimize the risk of waterborne diseases contamination and dissemination (e.g. dysentery, cholera, legionnella, Hepatitis A, polio, ...). Molecular diagnostic tests are more and more widely used to detect and identify waterborne disease agents.
The cost-effective treatment of effluent water is also paramount in supplying populations with high quality fresh water. High throughput sequencing and metagenomics helps in gaining a better understanding of the microorganisms which positively impact on each step of the water cleaning process. The key idea is to favour the development and multiplication of the beneficial microorganisms while depleting the less favourable ones.
Progenus proposes:
- PCR-based and high throughput sequencing services to design and validate in-vitro diagnostic tests to detect and identify viral, bacterial and other waterborne contaminants in water.
- Analysis services to detect and identify viral, bacterial and other waterborne contaminants in water.
- High throughput sequencing, metagenomics and automatic genomic functional annotation-based analysis services to better characterize microorganisms ecosystems to improve the efficacy of the water cleaning processes in water treatment plants.
