Certifications

Quality is a key element in Progenus day to day activities.

Progenus is certified ISO 17025 and has gained over the years several quality accreditations such as:

  • BELAC, Belgian Accreditation Organization
  • FAFSC, The Belgian federal agency for the safety of the food chain
  • French Ministry for Agriculture and Fisheries
  • ICAR, International Committee for Animal Recording

Iso 17025 - BELAC 292-TEST

Progenus was granted the ISO 17025 certification by Belac(292-TEST) to cover the following activities:

  • DNA extraction from different biological matrices;
  • Genomic identification of bovine including the microsatellites recommended by ISAG;
  • Genomic identification of bovine including the microsatellites approach recommended by Labogena;
  • Swine stress sensitivity detection;
  • Genomic identification of horse including the microsatellites recommended by ISAG;
  • Genomic identification of dog including the microsatellites recommended by ISAG;
  • Genomic traceability of bovine meat including the microsatellites approach recommended by Labogena.
  • Detection of pig or horse DNA in food products

ICAR

The quality of the work performed at Progenus has been recognized on the international level thanks to the ICAR accreditation for genomic identification of bovine. ICAR is the International Committee for Animal Recording. It is an international body whose main role is to control the performance of husbandry animals

FASFC

The Belgian federal agency for the safety of the food chain (FASFC) lays down the operational standards applicable to businesses and integrates all official control and inspection services for the food chain. The FASFC is responsible for laying down, implementing and enforcing measures related to the analysis and the management of risks that may affect the health of consumers.

Progenus was granted FASFC accreditation for the following activities:

  • DNA extraction from different biological matrices,
  • Genomic identification of bovine (microsatellites recommended by ISAG) including the microsatellites approach recommended by Labogena,

Genomic traceability of bovine meat including the microsatellites approach recommended by Labogena.

  • Swine stress sensitivity detection

Accreditation from the French Ministry of Agriculture cover the performance of the following testing activities in France:

  • Genetic sensitivity detection for the scrapie disease in sheep
  • Bovine genetic determination by pedigree
